(MAY 19) This coming weekend, on May 22, and 23, at Kim and Mark Messer's gym,
in Bellevue, Washington, will be hosting the tryouts for the reality
show "The Contender." The Reality Show is
for male boxers. WBAN would like to see NBC and Mark Burnett Productions,
Inc. take the leading role in having the "first ever" Women's Boxing
Contender Reality show! For the male boxers, make sure to get in contact
with NBC soon, as the deadline is June 15th.
(NOW...Just take ONE
look at Kim "Fireball" Messer, and the fact that she is a fantastic
boxer...wouldn't SHE make a great "Contender" in an all-women's reality
show?!)
"The Contender" is being produced by Mark Burnett Productions, Inc. and
Dreamworks, and is a new unscripted drama about the lives of 16 boxers. The
boxers will be selected from a nationwide search and will represent the best
and most promising talent available. Sylvester Stallone and Sugar Ray
Leonard will mentor these young boxers as they compete for a million dollar
prize.
Comprising of one weight class
(weight class to be determined), the boxers will be brought to a training
camp where they will live, eat, sleep and train together. Each episode will
culminate in a boxing match where the winner moves on, one step closer to
his dream, and the loser heads home. The one man who wins all his fights
will earn the title of "Contender" and a one million dollar grand prize.
